The 2014 New Play Competition

Why Not Write a Play?
VTA has just published a letter with the full details of the 2014 High School New One Act Play Competition for Young Playwrights. The basic guidelines are as follows:
Entry must be emailed by Friday, September 19, 2014.
Individual playwrights may submit only one play. Collaborations are allowed.
Adaptations are not eligible.
Plays must be one-acts, 20-40 pages in length with a minimum of two (2) characters.
Plays must be unpublished and unproduced. Readings and workshops are acceptable.
Entry must be emailed as a PDF in standard play format, including a title page providing the playwright’s
name, address, telephone number, and email address. The second page should be another title page that includes a character page identifying name, gender, and age of each character, which does NOT include the playwright’s personal information. Number all pages.
An entry form must be emailed (in either WORD or PDF) accompanying the play submission.
Email the PDF document to VTAHSNewPlayCompetition@gmail.com with the subject line VTA HS NEW
ONE-ACT PLAY COMPETITION. An email noting receipt of the play will be sent.
It seems like a great opportunity. To support you in this endeavor, Mainstage will support any student playwright who wants to set up a table read of any play written for this contest--at any stage of the draft process. It always helps to hear a play out loud to learn what is working and what is not.
Give it a Go!
